Go to Jan, 2004 |
|
Monday, Dec 29, 2003 |
Spent the day (again) scanning in old slides. Only have 531 done
yet. Over 2,000 more to go - if time holds out. Met w/ Mark tonight
to see if we can get a database put together for a project I have.
Looks like it'll take a little more work than expected as Mark hasn't
used Access in over 3 years. |
|
Sunday, Dec 28, 2003 |
Still a little under the weather, but went to church anyway. Little
better than last night. Came home for lunch (Subway) and spent the
afternoon w/ David, Russ, Mathew, Anna, Nikki, Mom and Dad. Took a
family portrait too - |
|
Saturday, Dec 27, 2003 |
Just a little sick today, but was able to speak at church tonight.
I didn't do much during the day - to rest up for the evening. Spent
most of the day scanning in old photos. |
|
Friday, Dec 26, 2003 |
Tried to get some glass for picture frames, but to no success. Went
out to help Larry get a couple trucks of wood, and came home for supper
- pizza w/ Matthew and Anna (my nephew and niece.) Played Scategories,
and I won. Here's some pictures of the day's drive: |
|
Thursday, Dec 25, 2003 |
Christmas day - slept in till 8:00 or so, had eggs and sasuage.
Good stuff. Then we went to my brother's house
and took the tour. From there, Russ and I went to see Dunk, Wes, and
saw many other folks at church - good time. Home for supper - pork
tenderloin. At night we played shanghi-rummy, of which Russ won. |
|
Wednesday, Dec 24, 2003 |
Russ and I went to Fred's, and got the deal on tuning Bikes. No
pictures. Stopped at Steve and Liz Masilin's on the way home. But
stuffed cabbage for supper, then opened up presents.

|
Tuesday, Dec 23, 2003 |
Drove from IN to CT - 14 hour drive. Left at 6:00 AM / arrived at
8:00 PM. |
|
Monday, Dec 22, 2003 |
Today I spent 8 hours cutting out a mat for the 10 commandments
that Andy cut out for me.
Needless to say, my thumb was numb for the next 2 days! After supper,
we went to the shop and blasted the stone. |
|
Sunday, Dec 21, 2003 |
Went to church w/ Andy / Marie - lunch, then slept for about 2.5
hours. |
|
Saturday, Dec 20, 2003 |
Up at 8:00 or so (EST) and eventually got a shower. Helped Andy
work on his SurBussan: plugs, wires, cap, rotor, blower motor, winshield
washer pump, adn I put new wiper blades on my truck. |
|
Friday, Dec 19, 2003 |
Plan: Arrive in Indiana - stay w/ Andy & Marie Essex
Left this morning at 4:30, driving till about 8:30 the next evening,
arriving in Warsaw, IN. It was Mackenzie's birthday, so they all were
down at Tickets and Tolkens so I met up w/ them there. |
|
Thursday, Dec 18, 2003 |
Plan: Leave Olds for East
Left at 2:30 AM - after about 4 hours of sleep, and drove to some
small town in Nebraska (9:30 PM) and got a room at Econo Lodge. Next
time: I'll spend the extra $8 and get a decent room! But it was good
to get 6 hours of shut-eye. I took some pictures of the trip, and
will get them up soon - when I get some time to do it. |
|
Monday, Dec 15, 2003 |
Spent the morning building an animation of a ziggurat and the cross
to help illustrate the difference between religion and the Bible.
It's been a while since I have worked on 3d animation, so it went
a little slower than usual. But that and a couple other fixes in the
can brings 14-2 close to completion. |
|
Sunday, Dec 14, 2003 |
For me it was pretty much a day off, which was nice and very much
needed. Mat 14 in the Sunday service, and the kid's Christmas play
/ program at night. |
|
Saturday, Dec 13, 2003 |
Today I spent the whole day working on the website (www.krazycheck.com)
- logged 38 more pictures. It does take a while to get it, but it
is starting to take shape (there are a few bugs that need to be worked
out first before opening for sales, but hopefully it won't take too
long.) |
|
Friday, Dec 12, 2003 |
John looked at and approved 13-3 and 14-1, which brings the total
number of sections completed to 21.
BREAKING NEWS! www.krazycheck.com
is now at least working - not to the point where I can sell photos,
but to the point where it's working on the server. Give it a try.
So thankful to get it to this point, and hopefully it won't take much
longer to get it totally operational.
Also, was able to finish section 14-2, and had John take a look. Some
changes / corrections / animations to build to fix it.
And - had a Christmas supper with the Kary's and Cross' tonight. Great
food (as usual!) |
|
Thursday, Dec 11, 2003 |
Again, most of the day was prep work for the trip home. Got about
half or 14-2 checked too. |
|
Wednesday, Dec 10, 2003 |
Today I spent much of the day studying / planning for the trip home.
I'm scheduled to speak on Saturday, Dec 27, so I do want to have something
prepared before leaving! |
|
Tuesday, Dec 9, 2003 |
Another hour of Clough this morning (#23) - talking about covenants
and the implications behind them. Real cool stuff.
The Website is going to
be transferred to another company, and if it works out well, I'll
have plenty of space for everything - which was a concern before
(as I need <1gb of space right now (not to mention after getting
thousands of pictures up!)
Finished checking 13-3, and put a new master cylinder on the truck.
Bled the brakes like I've never done it before - just loosen the
bleeder valve and let it drip till the air comes out. I guess it
works ok, you just need patience. And I think I need more, cause
they are still a little soft. |
|
Monday, Dec 8, 2003 |
Monday - John watched 13-2 (a 27 min section) and had a few corrections.
Got those done and it's added to the list.
Bought a new master cylinder for my truck ($80) and will put that
on probably tomorrow. |
|
Sunday, Dec 7, 2003 |
Went to church @ 10:00, (Daniel 8 for Sunday School) and again it
was good to hang out with folks I've not seen for a while. For lunch
(dinner) we went to Arnie's, and was there till 6:30 (ham, chicken,
3 salads, potatoes, etc - a 9 course meal if you include the buns
and desert. Very good indeed!) It even ended with a slide show of
Arnie's trip to Mexico (back in '74!)
I left for Olds at about 8:30 / 9:00 ish, listening to the first of
three free audiobooks I downloaded. I've ordered the Bible in MP3
for the trip home, and am looking forward to listening to that on
the trip. |
|
Saturday, Dec 6, 2003 |
Slept in - 8:00
Friesen is working on Arnie's van - ball joints, front rotors, bearings,
tie rod ends. Some parts were to get in this morning, so we drove
to town to pick them up. Got back to find they gave us the wrong bearings,
so back to town we went. Come to find out too, we didn't have new
brake pads, so Arnie picked them up and brought them out to us. (We
were trying to meet a 1:00 deadline - time for the front-end alignment
appointment.)
I was working on my truck in the meantime - I had a broken stud in
my exhaust line, which was a bear to get out. Inaccessibility was
part of the problem - you just couldn't get to it to knock it out.
We ended up grinding it out from the side, which was about all we
could do.
With that project done, I helped hook up 4 lights in the basement,
then supper, then drove to Edmonton for some Home Depot. |
|
Friday, Dec 5, 2003 |
Today I spent a little time on trying to figure out working with
databases on the web. Didn't get too far, but did make a little progress.
Work on the video was going backwards- I was making more mistakes
than progress, which helped in the decision to take off early and
drive to Wetaskiwin (1.5 hour drive north.)
I got there in decent time (4:30 or so) and learned that the church's
Christmas play was that night. It was good to go to that again (I
can't remember if I went last year or not, but I think I did.) I enjoyed
seeing many friends again. |
|
Thursday, Dec 4, 2003 |
Dentist appointment - 7:50 AM. 3 fillings and that's it for now.
Sure am thankful to be able to get that done.
In the office, I was able to finish up 13-2, which is about 27 minutes
long. It went together real well. John still has to look at it yet,
but at least it's ready for him. John did watch it, and now 13-1 is
added to the finished list - no corrections!
I'm needing to get a schedule put together for the trip home, but
it is waiting on if I am going to have someone from college ride with
me to wherever they live or not. Once I find that out (help pay for
some gas) then the planning can start. I'll probably post things as
they come up for grins. |
|
Wednesday, Dec 3, 2003 |
Finished 13-1, and half of 13-2. John still hast to have a look
at it yet.
It was above freezing last night, and tonight they say it's going
to be -20°C! Plug the truck in tonight!
Called Joe - haven't talked to him in ages, and will try to stop and
see him on the way home. He's doing well, building a Hemi Cuda. Can't
wait to see the video clip he has of it. Also called Deny, as I want
to have him take a look at my tranny (he's in PA.) Plans are shaping
up for the trip home. Looking forward to it. |
|
Tuesday, Dec 2, 2003 |
Interesting day. I tried to get everything working
- from the edit station to my animation workstation - to pull together
a quick DVD. Well, it's harder than you think when things don't work
real well together. I was hoping to learn to burn a quick DVD of some
of the sections I'm working on for the trip home, but it's going to
have to VHS - unless I spend more time and try to figure some things
out. There is anther way to do this, which requires some more hardware
that I would have to purchase. Just some extra steps to make things
work.
Here's a shot of our Canadian Staff- |

Monday, Dec 1, 2003 |
Today I took back the sound equipment that we
rented for the Choir Performance from last night. So, while I was
in Red Deer, I thought it would be prudent to go shopping while I
was right there. So, that's what took up most of the day. It was a
dragging day, as there wasn't much of a break on Sunday. |
