A good day today. Finished putting up the wall between JRC’s office and the conference room. Then we moved a ton of sheetrock. Probably literally. But the pallet jack sure came in handy on that one, as we just rolled the 12’, 5/8” sheets to a new location where they won’t be in the way of the walls we are going to build.
After the rock was moved, we moved a stack of 10’ studs up to the second floor, laid out 3 more walls, and built one before the day was out. Only worked 7:30 to 6:00 today. (photos by Troy)
BTW: drove by the local bank and the sign stated 17 degrees Fahrenheit. And we have snow on the ground!

Full day today. Yesterday I was doing little jobs waiting for Rob to come and show us things that need to be done. We were trying to get the floor finished, but being 14 degrees (F) it's too cold to work that. So we decided to start framing and finish the floors off after we get heat in the building. So, that was part of yesterday. I was able to finish insulating some parts, and putting up some nailers that were missing.
But today was spent moving more lumber to the second floor, then getting setup to start framing. End result is one wall up and a couple marked out to start tomorrow. Worked only a half day today, from 7:30 to about 9:00 (time off for dinner / supper, or lunch / dinner.) Rob came up today, so we had a couple hours' worth of meetings and figuring and planning for the week ahead. Looks like we have 5-8 electricians to come help next Friday / Saturday of next week, so we need to have all the framing done by then (which I think we can.)
All in all it was a very good day. Very thankful for how things are coming. ((Photos by Troy))

Well, at least that what it seems like. I went out to the office this morning to unload the truck (just a half-skid) and proceeded to install Snow Leopard on the Mac. During that, it was time to read the Safety Manual, of which I am going to be an overseer of the volunteers in this area, among others.
After lunch, I headed out to buy boots (which was needed based on the Safety Manual) w/ a hard hat as well. Don't get me wrong, it's all good stuff, and fully ready to work.
We cleaned out some of the remaining left-over parts / pieces from that the owner left in our bay, which wasn't too much. Swept the floor, vacuumed the dust up and started to get the windows for the interior walls moved inside, just as the wind picked up something fierce. It threw so much dust in the building that it looked like we hadn't done anything! And it's been blowing ever since, but it did rain a little, so there's not as much dust.
Basically, I got my tools in, overlooked the job and hopefully start building some walls upstairs tomorrow. I need to get some pictures before we start, and hopefully I'll get it done...

Today was a multitude of projects. First, it started out with packing the tools in the truck, along with everything else I’ll be needing for the next 9 weeks. Then to the office where I loaded a half-skid of books. Paperwork soon followed to get through customs / immigration. After, or during, was trying to finalize the paperwork for the skid of books going to Australia. All in all, it was a pretty hectic morning, but able to get the things done that needed doing.
Then I left, right around noon. Drove about an hour and a half, before I realized I had left the paperwork I prepared earlier on my desk! So Russ grabbed that and headed North, as I drove South. We met south of Sandpoint, adding at least an hour’s drive to my already 8 hour trip.
The border crossing was seamless, other than than getting a rookie officer who wasn’t real sure of how to go about things. Which wasn’t a problem, just took longer is all.
When all is said and done, the trip lasted much longer than I expected. But that’s ok, as I arrived only 12:30 at my destination, safely. Very thankful for that!

I find it hard to recount the day’s events, projects accomplished, without the notes that are sitting on my desk! The days all blur together, so individual tasks are not easily remembered. However, at 1:00 pm, Russ, Norm, Nate and I took a trip to Quest, to see the production of the new Kodiak airplanes. The plant is the only airplane manufacturing plant in Idaho, and are now producing a new plane every 7 days. That to me is quite impressive for what small shop they have. Here are some photos from the day’s tour:

Today ended up being nice (if you like 50’s). I ran 5 miles this morning (41:04) which was good I thought. It was a tough run, however, and only saw 3 deer. Drove the truck today to run a load of old pallets to the dump. Being Wednesday, or my day to pack books, that’s what I did, though it wasn’t an overloaded pile of work today. Barney came over and helped figure out the Access file to pull the new emails of people registering at the GoodSeed Site, and then Russ, Tom, Barney and I had to do Chinese for lunch… I finalized the skid going to GoodSeed Australia, and hope to see that leave tomorrow (some problem with getting a quote, so I had to email the info in and expect it’ll be ready tomorrow AM.) I was dragging some, probably because of running in the morning! I’ll have to try that at evening to see if it helps. At the end of the day, I started counting inventory, probably my least favorite job. But it does help me keep the warehouse in order (found 8 cases of Spanish Stranger I missed last count!) All in all, left at around 9:00 pm, and bought a day-pack on the way home from Barney.

Yes, it’s been a while since I’ve updated this, much to my dismay. I hope to get back and fill in the past month. There was a lot going on, many miles traveled and many people visited.
But today, I can report that the files for the Interactive Edition of The Stranger have been sent to the printer. This is one of those projects that has taken years and years to come to completion. Actually it’ll be completed when the books arrive in house. There is an exciting part to this that can’t yet be revealed, because it’s not totally decided. But if it works, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Much of the day today was gearing up for the next email, scheduled to go October 1st. If you aren’t on the list, you need to be, so you can get the neat stories and special pricing discounts that are offered. Sign up here.

This morning, before work, I finished proof-watching the 4 hour DVD, which was finished yesterday. All looks good, for which I give God the honor and glory! I only had to build it 3 times in the last 5 days, (not to mention the other 2-3 times before that.) But, I’ve burned 4 copies so far, and have it on my to-do list today to send for a quote on this for printing. Thank you all that prayed and were an encouragement through the last couple three days!
BTW: I am in correspondence with tech support from the makers of the software, but nothing really has been figured out yet. I really haven’t done anything different, other than lean more on the Lord to see this finished.
So, thanks again for your prayers and support through this one! Keep pressing on.

With the troubles in DVD Authoring on my mind, I figured it was time for a good bike ride. So, after church, hopped in the Corolla, drove to Rose Lake, and started riding. Mullen was the destination, 1,100 feet up and 37.8 miles away. Then, of course, had to come back, with a headwind, the ride totaling 75.7 miles, in 4:50. This included a short stop at the top, and about 10 min in the bike shop, moving average of 17 mph. Real good ride to help work out some of the stress of the week.

Today I spent trying different things with different computers. Since I have 2 projects to do, and one is relatively easy, I decided to work on that a bit. I took an older file, and had to re-link the video clips / audio clips / subtitles to their new location, and all looks good, until go to compile and burn—CRASH!
Well, learned one thing - the computer doesn’t seem to be the issue anymore (one is a MacPro running Windows, which I was thinking could be a problem somehow.)
So, back on my MacPro machine, I decided to start from scratch on the easy project. Threw it together without all the links, compiled and burned. That worked. So I did the finishing touches on the linking, and it’s in the process of burning (88% done as I type.) So, I’m at least thankful for that and might have a product to produce if it proofs out ok.
I do have a tech support ticket in, but not expecting anything back until Monday. Tech Support is hit or miss—it seems whenever I need them it’s a really bad thing that nobody can fix. But I have been pleasantly surprised in the past, too. It’s my prayer that this DVD gets authored, and I don’t care about how it does, just so that it does. Thanks for those of you who wrote / prayed for me in this!

Pete and Repete were sitting on a wall. Pete fell off—who was left?
That about explains today. Yesterday I was proofing our new DVD (Stranger Interactive Edition), a 4 hour long disc containing 110 different video clips, that will be included in the back of a specially marked The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus book. I watched the whole thing, but decided to update the very last one because it had the old, red Stranger book cover and needed to be updated to the new brown version. Two small subtitle / Closed Caption fixes as well. No problem, just fix the video, re-encode and re-master the DVD.
Well, for some unknown reason, that DVD Authoring file crashed on me. No problem, I have a backup. That crashed as well. Tried again with an older version (works fine until the changes are made and—CRASH!) And that’s how yesterday ended, it wasn’t an upnote, but a chance to again realize I’m just a small payer in this game of life, so managed to look on the bright side of things.
Today I tried this and that, and finally decided to re-do the whole authoring process. The first time I built this dvd, it took 4 days. The second (after the file crashed) it only took 1 day. So, my goal today is to have that finished again. But we shall see… come 10:30, I realized Lloyd and Faith weren’t coming in, so I have to pack orders and stuff. The day is still young…
Should I mention that I had this DVD completed 2 years ago? For some reason we never got it published, but now is the time for that. The fight is on.
Oh, in case you want to see what’s involved with this, here’s a link to a post 2 years ago: http://www.krazycheck.com/index.php/site/article/07_06_13/
